How to Access  the Books

How to Use the Scheme

You can discuss the scheme with any local professional who works with children and families. For example, your GP, Health Visitor, Support Worker, Voluntary Worker, School Health Nurse or Midwife will be able to tell you about the scheme. If you think that it might be helpful for you, they will recommend a book from the selected list and give you a slip which will say how long you can borrow it for. You can collect any books from your local library. You do not need to be a library member already.

Each branch library is stocked with several copies of each book; however, if all the copies are already on loan, the librarian will obtain a copy from another branch.

Please treat any book as you would any other from the library and do not mark it or write on it. If a book includes exercises or questionnaires please make your own copies and use those for your work.

Other Ways of Accessing the Books

Some people prefer to buy the books for themselves. If you wish to do this you will find nearly all of our recommendations are currently in print and will be available from bookshops or online. Some libraries hold copies of the books that you can borrow in the normal way using your library card. The full book list is available on the website.
