Plans for the Future Development of the Scheme

Evaluation

We are currently evaluating the scheme by:

Monitoring useage: We collect the recommendations slips from the libraries so that we can monitor how many books are being loaned out, who are the main recommenders, which books are being used most and generally how long the books are being loaned out for.

Evaluating the Scheme and Books: Each book is loaned out with an evaluation slip which the borrower is requested to complete and return. The evaluation slip can be downloaded within the Downloadable Documents section. This provides us with feedback from families about the scheme and the particular book that they borrowed.

Feedback from Professionals: We have interviewed professionals using the scheme to hear their views on how the scheme is doing and how useful it is. The results of this research will be posted on the website soon.

Scheme Development

We have lots of ideas about how to develop the scheme further. For example:

- resources in other formats such as CDs and DVDs

- resources in other languages such as Welsh

- a second list of fiction books for children and young people to read that cover the same topics

Publications

We intend to publish articles detailing the development of the scheme and the evaluation. As soon as this has been done details will be placed on the website.
