The Book List
The book list categories deal with common issues for families and are as follows:
Anger, Bereavement, Confidence and Self Esteem, Divorce, Potty Training, Sibling Rivalry, Step Families, Worries and Fears, Behaviours, Bullying, Development, New Parents, Sadness, Sleep, and Teenagers
Because children's difficulties arise in the context of the family, the list does not specify named disorders. The books do however include ways of understanding and managing the range of issues that are of concern to parents. So, for instance, although ADHD does not appear in the list of categories, there are books which provide clear guidance on how a parent might approach managing obstructive and explosive behaviour (in the ‘Anger' category). For specific advice on diagnosable mental health conditions please refer to the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommended book list, which can be accessed via the website (www.rcpsych.ac.uk/info/young.htm)
For more information about the books visit 'The Books' page on this web site which provides a detailed summary of each of the books.
