The Gwent Bibliotherapy Scheme recommends four books for new parents.

Kaz Cooke gives us an up to date low-down on pregnancy, birth and coping when you return home in "The Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth". It provides a week by week guide from preparing for pregnancy, through to the birth itself.

Betty Parsons' "The Expectant Father" is a very useful book for fathers (aswell as mothers) whether or not they also choose to join pre-natal groups or not. The book makes it clear that having a baby is a joint project between the parents.

Hilary Gardener's "The Fat Ladies Club" is aimed at expectant mothers and covers a broad range of topics including emotions, body changes, hormones, exercise and sex.

Tracy Hogg's "Secrets of the Baby Whisperer" for new and more expereinced parents of babies could use this book to help them understand their baby, and work out how they want to integrate the baby into family life.
