The Gwent Bibliotherapy Scheme recommends one book for the issue of sadness in children.
Phillip Graham and Carol Hughes have written "So Young, So Sad, So Listen" aimed at parents and teachers tackling a very tricky subject in a calm and sensitive way. The inclusion of Phillip Pullman's name on the front of the book, an icon of contemporary teenage literature, encourages the book to be used by children and teenagers. The book legitimises and normalises the existence of depression/sadness, and throws it open for rational discussion.
